Courttia was a Royal Literary Fund Fellow at The London College of Communication and Birbeck College (2003-2004) and the British Council Writer in Residence at Trinity College, Dublin (2005). In 2007 he was the British Council writer in residence for Georgetown University, Washington DC. He has undertaken various creative writing classes and workshops, including Arvon Lumb Bank, Totleigh Barton and The Hurst (1998-to present), Spread The Word Literature Project, Lyrical Flava and Believe The Hype @ Contact Theatre Manchester (2001, 2002 respectively). He teaches writing workshops in Pupil Referral Units and varied one day workshops in a number of schools, colleges and prisons. For the last three years Courttia has been working with The Writer’s Centre, Norwich on the Escalator scheme, a project which provides mentorship for aspiring writers. Most recently he has joined First Story, a charity set up to partner published writers with Inner City schools in order to provide after-school fiction workshops.

Courttia has also performed readings at thousands of International venues, including Harlem and Miami Book Fair, Edinburgh and Hay-On-Wye Festival, and the Crossing Borders Festival in the Hague. For bookings and/or interviews please contact:
